Our New Veranda!

Our New Veranda!

Yes! It’s true! We are the proud owners of a new veranda. It’s fair to say that our house is now somewhat stylish, still a long way to go (new fence, new garden, replace weatherboards and paint) but right now we’re basking in the beauty of our new street frontage. And the last couple of weekends has seen a serious attempt at renovating our front garden as well. We’ve had a cubic metre of compost delivered, digged it through the front dirt, and installed garden beds. This weekend the plants go in and then it’s just another truck load of mulch to be sprinkled onto the frontyard and we can move onto the next project!

September’s also saw Kate head over to Europe for work, spending two weeks in Germany, a weekend in London and a few days on Switzerland. The work aspects of the trip went very well, and it was lovely to head back to London for the first time since we moved back to Melbourne. London turned it on with perfect weather, but it was a shock to be back and earning in the Aussie dollar rather than the pound! See the photos on her Flickr page to get a feel for her adventures.

Andrew has started a new course. He’s taken on the first two units of Finsia Financial Services Course this semester and is enjoying the course material, even if the amount of study is a little more than expected. It’s an interesting course, and he’s lucky enough to have the lectures being run in his building!

With the house, new course and work trip taking up much of our time we haven’t had a great deal of time to get out and about. That said we have managed to:

  • See the latest MTC production ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?’ – which was emotionally draining but as good as always
  • Headed off to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Fields of flowers, but also mud!
  • Attended the auction of Kate’s parents house. Their property was passed in so if anyone is looking for a fabulous family home in Mentone, Melbourne, let us know!
  • Andrew completed his third Toastmasters speech, which was well received by the group
