The day we left for Dublin, we visited the home of its historical oppressor. Our local MP got us a free tour of Westminster Palace and the Houses of Parliament.

Although we walked through all the fancy areas, unfortunately we could take photos only in this room - Westminster Hall. King Charles I had been sentenced to death here. Now "death-watch" beetles live in the ceiling timbers.

One of the reasons to visit Dublin was to see the Book Of Kells. It's inside this building - the Old Library at Trinity College. Unfortunately, we weren't allow to take pictures inside there either.

Here's Andrew resting on a lock of the Grand Canal. It's not very wide, so we're not sure how it got such a grand name, but it was pleasant to walk along.

Dublin recently erected this monument to show its heavenly aspirations. Suitably, it's called The Spire. The statue of the guy in front obviously doesn't get the joke.

The Temple Bar district has good night life, and some decent restaurants and bars. We're not sure if the area was named after this bar, or the other way around.
